GM6 Lynx Sniper Rifle

The large -caliber sniper rifle “GM6 LUNX” (Gepard Model 6 Lynx – cheetah model 6 lynx) has been developed and produced by the Hungarian company “Sero LTD”. She became a continuation of the GEPARD model range.
The main purpose of the GM6 LUNX rifle is the defeat of easily armored equipment, electronic structures, missile launchers, enemy in shelters and buildings, as well as helicopters in a distance of up to 600-800 meters.

The rifle has quite compact dimensions for a 12.7-mm caliber weapon, and the use of automation with the outbuildings of the barrel and an effective muzzle brake allowed to significantly reduce the peak returns of weapons felt by the shooter. As a result, the rifle allows more or less comfortable and aiming from the hands, without the use of bipod or other support. Due to the mobility of the barrel during firing, the accuracy of the GM6 Lynx rifle can “not reach” to the best Western samples with a fixed barrel, but it is still quite sufficient to perform typical weapons of this class of combat missions up to 1600 meters. Another advantage of this rifle is the ease of caliber change-after replacing the barrel, shutter and store, the Lynx GM-6 rifle can use both “Western” cartridges of 12.7×99 (.50 BMG) and “ex-Soviet” 12.7×108.

GM6 Lynx Sniper Rifle

The large -caliber GM6 Lynx sniper rifle “GM6 LUNX” (Gepard Model 6 Lynx – cheetah model 6 lynx) has been developed and produced by the Hungarian company “Sero LTD”.

The Lynx GM-6 sniper large-caliber rifle uses automation using the energy of recoil of the barrel with its long course. The locking of the barrel canal is carried out by a rotary shutter. The rifle itself is built in the Bullpap configuration, the receiver is made of aluminum alloy. The use of recoil with a long move made it possible to implement in a rifle the possibility of transporting with a barrel shifted back to the stop. The latch of the barrel is located in the front of its casing. At the same time, if there is a charged store in the weapon, the transfer of the trunk from the camping position will automatically call the cartridge to the barrel, so that the rifle will be ready to open fire.

Food by cartridges is carried out from abscessed boxes made of plastic. The aiming devices (optical, nightly sights) are installed on a guide type integrated into the design, additional guides are made on the barrel casing. The rifle is also equipped with a folding adjustable bicom -bearing bipod.

The Lynx is available in two calibers that include .50BMG and 12.7x108mm and feeds from a single-stack detachable box magazine.  The body of the magazine gets inserted into the gun by lining up two tabs or lugs at the front of the box with a track that runs up the back of the thumbhole grip.  The magazine has a 5 round capacity and works with both .50 and 12.7 ammo.
The Lynx has an unloaded weight just below 25 pounds and an overall length of 44.3 inches making it one of the lightest and shortest options for a semi-automatic .50 caliber rifle.  For storage and easy transport, the barrel can be pulled back and locked in its rearward position via a simple lever bringing its length to 36.5 inches.  Note that doing this will require the dust cover to be left open.
The Lynx only has 4 notable controls with a small magazine release located behind the pistol grip, a cross-bar safety behind the trigger, a trigger that is less than optimal as is the case with any bullpup, and the charging handle which needs to be rotated upwards to unlock itself from the barrel before being able to manually cycle the action.  The dust cover does well to not impede the shootability when fired by a right-handed user.
